This comprehensive training programme takes you from complete beginner to advanced Linux command line user. You’ll begin with an introduction to the Linux terminal, learning how to list files, navigate directories, create and remove folders, and display file contents. The early lectures build a solid foundation in file and directory management commands, such as copying, moving, renaming, compressing and extracting files, so you can work efficiently with any Linux environment.

Once you’re comfortable with the basics, you’ll move into user permissions and management. You’ll learn how Linux file permissions work, how to modify them with chmod, and how to create and manage users and groups with useradd, adduser, groupadd and usermod. These lessons give you essential skills for maintaining secure, multi-user systems.

The course also covers file viewing and ownership commands to help you inspect and control your system, including head, tail, chown and chgrp. You’ll then progress to a rich set of network utility commands such as ping, traceroute, mtr, host, ifconfig, ip, whois and nslookup, enabling you to test connectivity, trace routes, view interfaces and perform DNS queries.
